CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Few systems have as much impact on the human body as the craniosacral system. It protects and nourishes the brain and spinal cord - and affects nearly every aspect of central nervous system performance.
Dora Franco, B.Sc., D.O., BI-D, ( www.terapia-sacrocraniana.blogspot.com ) completed the Courses CranioSacral Therapy: I & II - the first two levels of the core CST full Course.
It teaches gentle techniques to normalise the craniosacral system and allow the body to self-correct and studies the cranial-base dysfunctions as diagnosed and treated by Dr. William Sutherland, the "father of cranial osteopathy."
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, properly trained therapists can release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system and every other system it interacts with.
Highly skilled therapists can identify the subtle craniosacral rhythm and interpret its patterns to accurately evaluate dysfunction and improvements, locate the source of physical problems by travelling through the fascial system, that complex web of tissue that impacts all body structures and systems, release dural tube restrictions to enhance interactions between the central nervous system and the rest of the body, work with approaches to a number of common ailments such as TMJ dysfunction, head and neck pain, central nervous system disorders and many more.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, eliminates stress and is effective at the source for a very wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
